Introducing Rah 1: A Voice for Change
Rah 1, born and raised in Jersey but now based in North Carolina, brings a unique perspective to the world of content creation. His platform doesn't shy away from the tough topics, ranging from social injustice to mental health and beyond. Rah 1’s mission is clear: he is here to have the conversations that need to be had, especially those often overlooked in mainstream media. When asked about his overarching goal for his platform, Rah 1 explained, “My mission is to speak to all people. It’s about providing a space where real, raw conversations can happen — whether they’re about financial struggles or mental health. We have to talk about what’s really affecting our communities.” He believes in the importance of having discussions that are not bound by color, politics, or religion. For Rah, the real dividing factor in our world isn’t these superficial labels, but rather the differences between wealth and poverty. He stressed the point that, no matter how much wealth a Black man accumulates, societal structures often still attempt to bring him down, as seen in some high-profile cases like that of Diddy. Rah reminds us of the need for unity and support within our communities to combat these disparities. Tackling the Hard Topics
Rah 1’s podcast isn't just about everyday conversations — it’s a platform that dives deep into issues that others might avoid. One of the standout moments in our conversation was when Rah shared the story of a guest who had survived childhood sexual abuse. This man had been traded by his own biological father for sexual exploitation, a shocking story that sheds light on a rarely discussed aspect of abuse: the trafficking of boys. In Rah’s words, "Mental illness and trauma are affecting our communities more than we talk about. We need to open up these conversations, not only for healing but also for awareness." From this gut-wrenching conversation to a sheriff who was convicted of a crime while in office, Rah 1’s platform provides a space for a wide range of stories. These conversations are not just heavy for the audience but also for Rah himself. He admits that some interviews leave a lasting impact, yet he approaches each story with empathy and a desire to push the conversation forward rather than internalize the pain. Rah 1 also highlighted a conversation with a mother who tragically lost both her children — one to a train accident and another to murder. Her story of relentless pursuit for justice struck a deep chord, emphasizing the need for platforms that amplify voices like hers. Conversations with Purpose
Unlike traditional interview-based podcasts, Rah’s show is more conversational. He doesn't believe in rigid formats or structured interviews, allowing his guests the space to share what’s truly on their minds. This style creates room for unexpected revelations, as was the case when a guest began recalling repressed memories during their conversation. Rah emphasized that having these candid discussions allows for real connections, and he steers away from pre-interviewing his guests. Instead, he opts for clarifying questions ahead of time to guide the conversation without restricting it. He explained, "I let the universe work it out. It’s about clarifying the conversation, and from there, we let it flow.” This approach has allowed Rah 1 to create an environment where guests feel comfortable enough to open up in ways they may not have elsewhere. Building a Community Through Marketing
We also touched on Rah’s approach to marketing, which has played a significant role in expanding his reach and attracting diverse guests to his platform. Rah is a firm believer in the power of repurposing content. By creating short, impactful reels from longer episodes, he gives his audience “little microwave bags of popcorn,” small but meaningful bites of content that keep them coming back for more. He also stressed the importance of distributing the audio version of your content just as rigorously as the visual. “A lot of people focus on going viral visually,” Rah explained, “but audio can be just as powerful. It’s where people are getting their news first.” In addition to reels and audio distribution, Rah encouraged content creators to take advantage of affiliate marketing. He believes this approach can help newer podcasters and creators establish a foundation without needing immediate sponsorships. “Affiliate marketing gives you a chance to build relationships and content around products or services you believe in, while also getting compensated for it,” Rah added. When it comes to growing your platform, Rah suggests utilizing platforms like LinkedIn to connect with more professional guests, including CEOs and decision-makers at major companies. “LinkedIn is where you find the professionals. It adds validity to your platform when they see your profile and your content.” Embracing Fanbase: A New Frontier for Creators
Rah 1 is also a strong advocate for using Fanbase, a social audio platform where creators can build and monetize their content. He finds the platform to be innovative, offering features that other platforms don’t, and enjoys how it allows creators to interact more closely with their audience. Like many others, Rah repurposes his content across multiple platforms, ensuring that his Fanbase audience gets the same valuable content he posts on other social media. For content creators looking to expand their reach, Rah’s advice is clear: consistency is key. “I post three to four times a day across all platforms — LinkedIn, Instagram, Fanbase, all of them. Consistency is what gets you noticed.” Wrapping Up: A Platform with a Purpose
Rah 1’s platform stands out for its intentionality, empathy, and willingness to tackle conversations that others might shy away from. From addressing deep-rooted issues like trauma and mental health to providing actionable marketing advice, Rah 1’s message is one of empowerment and upliftment. As we wrapped up the conversation, Rah shared that he works with various companies to provide tools for other creators. He offers a link for free distribution services for those looking to get their podcasts on platforms like Apple and Spotify, encouraging other creators to "get out there and get to it." In a world where much of podcasting seems driven by sensationalism and surface-level content, Rah 1's commitment to elevating meaningful stories is refreshing and impactful. Be sure to follow Rah 1 across all platforms using the hashtag #RAH1, and check out his content on YouTube, Instagram, Fanbase, Facebook, and LinkedIn. His work is a reminder of the power of conversation and the impact that one voice can have in bringing about change. And don’t forget, we’ll be back next Monday with another Creator Conversations.
