Ditch Twitter and Build Your Future on Fanbase

Image
Earlier today, I hosted an insightful audio room on Fanbase, diving deep into several important topics that are reshaping the social media landscape. As a Fanbasador, my goal was to engage with the community and explore the opportunities and challenges facing creators today. From the role of Fanbasadors to discussions about platform safety and the rise of Blue Sky, the conversation centered on the growing need for alternative social media platforms that truly prioritize creator empowerment. @itisidanimarie | Fanbase | Videos, Audio, Live Streams and More! The Changing Landscape of Social Media To kick off the conversation, I replayed a powerful video from Isaac Hayes III, founder of Fanbase, in which he spoke passionately about the mass exodus from Twitter (now X) and the growing influence of platforms like Blue Sky. Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, many users have voiced concerns about political biases and the platform’s algorithmic manipulation. The platform has increasingly...

Creator Conversations: Insights from Tez of Tezdafye and The Fye 100

Image
In the latest episode of Creator Conversations on Fanbase, I had the pleasure of chatting with Tez, the engaging host of Tezdafye and co-host of The Fye 100. Our discussion traversed his podcasting journey, the importance of community engagement, and his personal growth through storytelling and connection. Tez’s experiences provide valuable insights for aspiring podcasters and creators, making this conversation a must-read for anyone looking to carve their niche in the digital landscape. The Journey of The Fye 100 Podcast Tez's podcasting journey began in the pandemic's tumultuous environment of 2020. He and his partner CJ 100 launched The Fye 100 Podcast, initially on Facebook. They quickly realized the need to expand their reach, transitioning to audio platforms using Buzzsprout, which helped them distribute their content across major platforms like Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. Eventually, they embraced video content, leading to a presence on YouTube. Reflecting on thi...

Creator Conversations: Leading with Logic in a Chaotic World

Image
In a world filled with noise and misinformation, the ability to have meaningful conversations is more important than ever. This is where "Lead with Logic" comes in—a multifaceted concept encompassing a person, an ideology, a brand, and a movement aimed at fostering constructive dialogue and critical thinking. This blog explores the origins of this philosophy, its principles, and practical steps to apply it in our daily lives. The Birth of Lead with Logic The idea for "Lead with Logic" was born during the pandemic, a time of reflection that emphasized our need for connection and understanding. The founder observed everyday interactions—whether at the gym or the grocery store—and noted the passion people displayed on various topics, often without sufficient knowledge. While enthusiasm can be a catalyst for discussion, it can also lead to aggressive exchanges that drown out constructive dialogue. From these observations arose a desire to shift the focus of conversation...

Louis Harris on the Future of Hip-Hop: Navigating Challenges, Legacy, and Monetization in the Digital Age - A Deep Dive with Creator Elevation Camp

Image
The music industry is always changing, and for veteran hip-hop artists, it can be tough to stay relevant while keeping true to their roots. As newer, mainstream artists take center stage, those who helped shape hip-hop often find it challenging to compete. This was a key topic in a recent episode of Creator Conversations at the Creator Elevation Camp, where Louis Harris, an artist, model, and creative mind, shared his thoughts. Harris talked about the difficulties veteran hip-hop artists face, the need for a separate genre for older artists, and the importance of protecting their legacy in an industry that sometimes forgets those who came before. The Challenges for Veteran Hip-Hop Artists Louis Harris began the conversation by highlighting how veteran hip-hop artists struggle to keep up in a music scene that has changed so much since they started. He pointed out that while many of these artists are still making music, they often get overshadowed by newer artists who dominate the...

The Evolution and Challenges of Fanbase: A Black-Owned Social Media Platform

Image
Fanbase: Building a Black-Owned Social Media Platform Creating a successful social media platform is tough. Fanbase, a Black-owned app founded by Isaac Hayes III, shows just how challenging it can be. The app has sparked many conversations—some users are impressed with its progress, while others feel it could do more. On a typical Monday, the Fanbase community buzzed with opinions across four different audio rooms. These discussions highlighted the hard work required to build and maintain a social media app, especially for a Black founder aiming to protect Black creators and their content. Isaac Hayes III’s Vision for Fanbase Isaac Hayes III launched Fanbase with a clear goal: to create a platform where Black creators could share their work without worrying about their ideas being exploited. Fanbase offers users the chance to make money from their content, something platforms like Facebook and Instagram often fail to provide for Black creators. Many users appreciate this vision, recogn...

My First Week Hosting on Fanbase: A Recap and Reflections

Image
My First Week Hosting on Fanbase: A Recap and Reflections As I wrap up my first week of hosting my own camp on Fanbase, I can't help but reflect on the journey I've been on and the incredible experiences I've had. This week has been a whirlwind of conversations, learning, and personal growth. I wanted to share some insights and opportunities that emerged during this time, especially as someone who’s still finding her footing in this new space. Discovering "Aurora" in LockedIn's Room One of the most memorable moments of the week happened in LockedIn's room, where I had the chance to sit in on a conversation that brought together a few Gen Zers. The topic was a new buzzword, "aurora," and the discussion revolved around whether Gen Z understands the gravity of this word and its connection to faith and spirituality. It was a deep and thought-provoking conversation, touching on how words carry power and the responsibility we have in choosing our wor...

Creator Elevation Camp: Day Three Recap and Reflections

Image
Day three of Creator Elevation Camp is done, and I’m excited to share my thoughts and takeaways from this week so far. Today, Wednesday, August 21st, was a big day, and it was filled with energy, ideas, and lively discussions. We focused on a key topic: the pros and cons of "resetting the room" in audio spaces. This topic sparked a lot of interest, with both newbies and veterans sharing their views. The Day’s Highlights Today’s session had the highest attendance of the week, and I couldn’t be happier. There could be many reasons for this—maybe the buildup from the first two days got people curious, or perhaps our eye-catching flyer grabbed their attention. I also think that the word "debates" really drew people in. After all, who doesn’t love a good debate, especially when it’s between newbies and veterans of audio spaces? Whatever the reason, the turnout was great, and the energy in the room was awesome. I’m incredibly thankful to everyone who participated, espec...
